Workshops at Trillium House

Our monthly workshops cover the topics that moms most want to learn about. The workshop schedule rotates, so we offer new and repeat topics throughout the year. Trillium House also hosts monthly Birth Circles — one for moms and one for dads (currently on hiatus).

Educational workshops are taught by local birth professionals. They typically last an hour and a half and are held in the evenings, usually every third Thursday from 7:00-8:30pm.

Prenatal Pelvic Floor PT and Labor Preparation

Description: This workshop will help you better understand the physical changes of pregnancy and prepare for labor with confidence. We'll explore what happens to your body during each trimester, discuss common pregnancy-related concerns that pelvic floor physical therapy can address, and learn strategies for pain relief and improved function. Participants will also practice labor positioning and preparation techniques while considering labor planning through a biopsychosocial lens that supports both physical and emotional well-being.

Bio: Skyler Burford earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Lynchburg. Skyler enjoys working with all patient populations, and she specializes in pelvic floor and pediatrics. Skyler especially loves treating prenatal and post-partum patients to aide with prevention of pelvic pain and incontinence and improve inquality of life. Outside the clinic, Skyler enjoys spending time with her husband and family. She is a big animal lover, loves to bake, and travel.
